I'm fixing my maverick because I want the experience of fixing up a car I'm 16 yrs old and it's my first car at first I wanted a camaro or a barracuda but my dad showed me a picture of a maverick and I fell in love with them. The next day I was looking through the newspaper and I saw a '74 the next day we went to go buy it. Now it's in our garage waiting for summer when I actually have time and funds to fix it (summer job) I will NEVER sell this car I intend to keep it till the day I die and then pass it on to my children so that they can make their own memories in it. The amount of money I spend on it is not a big deal I'm gonna take my time, and as money allows I'll fix it and make it my own I don't care how long it takes and I don't care how much money I'll get out of it the experiences will be priceless it's not a monetary investment for me it's an investment in experience and an investment in time with my dad.:)

I like this Mustang killer ideal.
I think owning a Maverick is like being an underdog. We can make performance, yet the popular status ideal is something else.
So I guess when the underdog stuff ever ,probably not, becomes popular we can sell out.

When your out showing your sharp looking Maverick your promoting the brand.

My kids and my wife cant believe how much attention the car gets on the road. I've had people come off the sidewalk and knock on my window stopped at a light. Happened twice now. Once was when I dropped my Mom off at the convention center for a benefit dinner. While I was in stop and go traffic waiting to turn a lady all dressed up in her fur coat and such knocked on the window to say what a beautiful car it was and what was the color. Told her Grabber Blue and she turns to her hubby and says I want a car that color. HE just smiled and said thanks a lot. Told him the new Mustang was coming back out in Grabber Blue so he could buy her one of those.:)
I'm sure it gets more attention than most Mustangs and Camaros.

    nope its a beretta:biglaugh:

if we were to start jacking up the car prices then i think it would increase in value.

i like that maverick parts are very inexpensive, cause im poor.

And like everybody else on this fourm, we love our mavericks, not cause other people tell us that they are cool cars, but because we like them

:thumbs2: Agreed and I'd still like to own a V-Pinto and Mustang II but Utah has no Lottery.

Comets and Mavericks are relatively rare in my area. I had only seen 1 four door maverick for the first 19 years of my life. Then I started looking and I have seen a total of about 5 in my area.

Since I got my Maverick its been sitting in my driveway with various parts of the 250 in my basement. Safe to say it hasn't run. In the last 5 months I have had 4 people offer to purchase it, 2 of them with up front cash offers without questions asked other than "Do you have the title?" All four were also random people who decided to pull into my driveway and either saw me outside or knocked on my door.

Another gent overheard me while purchasing a gasket at an autoparts store and he inquired also. I don't like saying know but I try to point them towards the other mav/comets I have seen if I know they are still available.

I will say that I own my Mavs because I like them since I was a kid and never had in mind the potential monetary gain of owning them. Will they come up in value? of course, but true mavericks build this cars for the satisfaction that is attained. Now if they appretiate in dollar value......
that is gravy on my mashed potatoes :bananaman:bananaman:bananaman:bananaman

i just sold my 67 Firebird to get out of the expensive car hobby... leave these cars alone!! If these cars were as much as my Firebird I would not be able to afford this car hobby!! I have my eye on a nice Maverick that is selling for less than half of what I sold my Firebird for and that firebird needed more money than the maverick I am looking at is selling for! go figure.

All I know is this much, I paid $1200.00 for mine, and put at least $2000.00 into it already just in parts.
It get's honks and thumbs up every 2 miles, and looks like no other car out there.
Even if some of the older guys think they're not that great, they'll still smile and laugh and have a good time reminicing while standing around my car in a parking lot. It's great, I love it. Everyone I talk to had a relitive who's owned a Mav or Comet back in the day.

Wait till you find out, that most of the parts you need will be good used, or NOS...then you'll wish you had an easy car to work on. :D
To to a total restoration on a Maverick, can cost more than a Mustang anyday.

As long as the body and interior are all there, the engine and drivetrain should be relatively easy to get parts for.. I am hoping anyway. cars are expensive no matter what you drive though. as long as we're having fun is the main thing.
