Anyone ever remove the junk from one ignition lock cyl and put it into a different lock cylinder? I want to take the pins and springs from a dash mounted lock cyl and install them into a column mounted cylinder. Anyone done such a thing?

I have had a lock smith do it....about $10. There is a lot of "junk" inside one of those.

No problem. There are 2 brass cylinders and one spring per hole. Take them out of one lock and put them in the other. So simple, a caveman could do it. :)

Yep I re-pinned both doors and the ign sw on my Comet for a pair of NOS keys that had never been used(it only had one key and had seen better days)... At one time I had the dash cylinder as my neighbor brought the set home from the Norfolk Assembly plant because I needed one for a '57 Ford... Naturally the double sided lock wasn't going to fit(double sided keys were a novelty in '66)... Somewhere over the years I robbed the pins and trashed the cylinder, had to dissemble three or four additional locks I had with no keys to get enough correct pins for the three Comet locks... Since I'd been saving them for "one day" I figured it was now or never...

As a FYI there are only five different length pin sets(set =2 upper and lower do not interchange, so 10 in all) and of course the longer the lower pin, the shorter the upper one has to be... Pins in the trunk lock(round key) are same as the square heads and AFAIK are same in all five pin versions till they were discontinued in the '90s...
