Ignition Switch?

    If you are still having this problem I'd like you to try something. Unplug the voltage regulator (just below the solenoid) while the car is running. There is a remote possibility that a diode inside the alternator is shorted causing this problem. It is a very simple check anyway. Back in the 70's-80's I worked at an electrical shop and we did see this problem a couple of times.

    yeah real old. it turned out to be the solenoid. Sorry I didn't reply that it had been fixed. project still not done haven't done hardly anything in past year. I need a month or so of free time to have it ready for paint, then about 3 months to put it back together. then another week or so to put all the leftover parts in boxes marked with a big "?"

    Thanks guys. I replaced the solenoid. 6.1 V to the coil and 0V to it when the key is off. That weas the prob
