here are some pics, as you can see, it has a generally stock appearance, not a lot of room for changing plugs,
Wow looks great. Plugged dipstick, header evac? And why did you have to use valve cover spacers? What do you have 1/4" clearance on the shock tower? Solid mounts? How exactly DO you change the plugs?
actually, I run a pcv valve tapped into the manifold, that's why I plug the dipstick, it will pull a vacuum in the crankcase, the valve cover spacers are for the stud girdle clearance, if you pull the valve covers, and use a snap on flex head ratchet with a snap on spark plug socket with the universal built on it, you get the 4 hard ones, I can pull the ones outside the fender tower pretty easily.
Very, very nice. Some 34 years ago mine looked about the same...........before they cut the towers and put the 408/Powerglide in.......and it's still difficult to change plus......wish they hadn't cut the towers.
Yes, some of the best flowing SBF heads Ford ever made (with some of the mods Duane has done they should flow about as good as my 351w TF-TW-R CNC'd heads).....................from 3000/3500 they do come alive..........and today they are almost as expensive and very sought after by Ford guys. I just looked at a pair for $1800 that needed an extensive rebuild.
Boss 302 hds are basically 351 4v hds & they always flowed real well. That is outstanding power from that mtr,you should be excited w/ your results. There was a guy on here a while back that had a Mav for sale that was powered by a 289 that ran low 10s w/ extensive work. However,he said the previous owner had a Boss 302 in it turning 11000rpm that went high 8s,BOY that`s getting the job done.I wanted to build a high rpm 331 for my car but decided against it because of the maintainence on the top end, very hard on valve train.
