Have you thought about white facing the factory gauges to match your aftermarkets?

Ah. Paintank. The guy that got me into this crazy video phase.

No, I have been tossing around an idea to get rid of the stock gauges and put the aftermarkets into that space, but it involves a complete dash rebuild. I don't have the funds or time for that right now. So I am living with functional-but-inaccurate black faced gauges, and a crap-load of bolt-on gauges. GPS is actually functioning as my speedometer and trip meter to help me figure out gas mileage.

The only problem with both my GPS is that when I really nail it, they don't get a reading for a while and it goes from 15 mph, to 46, to 89 over the course of a couple seconds, so I really have NO idea how fast I am going until my speed levels out a bit and it can get a reading.

White faces are nice, But i will still have 5 other gauges mounted in various locations.

I would like to make a dash that houses all my gauges, but NOT my stock gauges, in the center and up front. So no aftermarket gauges sitting all over the place.

    Very cool.
That rattle sounds just like the ones I get. Finally fixed them. It was the screw clips on the dash for the radio bezel. Put a screw in each and no more rattles. They vibrated like mad with the exhaust drone around 3000rpm.

You must get some weird looks with the hat on while driving.

That annoying rattle is just pure lazyness. It is one of the screws holding the 3-gauge cluster in the radio hole. One of those screws is loose so the gauges rattle against the dash. All I need to do is pull out the oil pressure gauge, turn that screw half a turn, and be done listening to it.

It has been like that for at least 3 years...

Heres the official professional fix. Reach in your shirt pocket and pull out an old time ticket. Tear off a piece, fold it up and stuff it behind the gauge. At least that what I do at work. The time ticket is also a fast idle actuator. Fold up a piece and place it between the throttle and stop screw. Adjust thickness as necessary to obtain 1500 rpm to run the injector flush machine. :):):)
Its also a nut and bolt holder. Tear off a piece and place it over the nut or bolt then jam it in the socket. :):)

That hat cam is way cool. It's gives a real POV feel to the drive. That came out much better then I would have ever thought. Great idea. But when you do get pulled over, video the cops anyway. You can always show them your footage that you arn't some kind of perv, (can't you?)

Fun post. Thanks for taking us for a ride. Sounds like a great idea I might have to try.

There are two forms of self-incrimination on board. One is the video evidence, and two is the GPS unit on the dash that reads current speed and "highest speed", which right now is stuck at just below 90 mph. I guess I need to clear that out.

Of course, without the video, they cannot prove that I didn't do it the night before at the drag strip, hence the hiding of the video camera...

Overall, I try to keep it under the speed limit, but sometimes I get it there quite quickly, and the GPS (my only reliable speedometer) can only generate 1 or 2 readings per second, and sometimes less when accellerating quickly, so I tend to see 15...45...85 mph, and then back off.
