glad to have you here. Sounds like a great car with a cool story behind it. Please keep us updated on the progress with it! Ohh, and we like pictures!
Joe's Maverick was interesting to me as although it is a '75, it was built with the small bumpers ('69-'72 style) and the old pics that he has shown me have it with the high back buckets from '71-'72. Perhaps the builders sourced a small bumper grabber in the interest of trimming some of the weight. Joe-check the inside of your doors. By '75, the doors should have had a horizontally mounted reinforcement bar in the middle inside of the door. Many drag racers swap the earlier doors on to shed the extra weight. Someone here knows what year the change was made. Interior door latch locations changed in '72/'73 depending on model. Seth
No, the car came off the Ford line without a VIN. The only thing that identifies the car is from Don Hardy Race Cars. A data plate identified each car that Hardy built. The plate lists the Year, Racing Class and a Chassis number. The car was also undercoat and sound deadener delete. Seth, the doors have no horizontal reinforcement. Here is a picture of the car in Hardy's Shop...!975. Joe
Well ,it's been awhile. Although I don't participate much, I've learned allot about these great cars by just reading past posts. Everything I ever wanted to know about a Maverick is right here! For that... I Thank you. I've really come to appreciate the Maverick, and just drove one for the first time last month. What a great car... although it was a 250 6 cly. , it was very responsive and handled great. My surprise! The Fadely car is coming along, and I hope to have it finished by the end of the Summer. For those of you that would like some up-dates, you can do so on the following link. http://www.boss302.com/smf/index.php?topic=25741.0 Again, Thanks for all your help. Joe
Joe has shared some VERY nice looking detailed pics with me. He goes well beyond the standard in his restorations. It's going to look fantastic when he gets it finished. Seth
