Manually shifting a C4 or C5 will not, in itself, injure the transmission. Never use a B&M shift kit in a C4 or C5. Use the TransGo reprogramming kit. The 40-2 kit is for the 70 - up C4 and is simply the best commercial kit available. It comes with easy to use instructions and there is a help line you can call if you need it.
Pauls thanks for telling me that and giving a specific part name as well seems as that is the part im going to get! how much does this cost so i can invest.
The last time I bought one of those kits I think I remember it was about $50, they probably sell for close to twice that now. They are well worth the price.
should i get.... 1)THIS---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...r_id=139683880436&ua=WVI7&itemid=260118927502 2)or this----> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...r_id=139693835084&ua=WVI7&itemid=130397828796
They are the same kit so get the cheaper of the two as long as they have never been opened they should be complete. I think the first link was the cheaper of the two. good find! I just called my supplier and he told me retail was $115 and some change - my cost was $79 so you are stealing it!
sweet! first has a 30 day return so im going with that!!! thanks for saving me a lot of money and helping now one last qeustion do i have to take the tranny out to install this?
No, but you do have to take the valve body out. Get some 1/4" threaded rod and nuts and cut some 4 inch pieces to use to keep it lined up going back in.
I just had to chime in on "power braking". I have always called it power braking because you are applying power while braking to load the powertrain before launch. It works for me.
And it is a great way to build up extra heat in the transmission - so I like it too, as long as it isn't one of my transmissions.
lol yea maybe no more "power braking" considering i popped the hood to find brake fluid on the bat. (the OTHER side of the engine) and tranny cooler is on its way phew!!!
