Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
you know i saw that on a maverick under the hood. but i have no idea how he got it under there. lol!

if i take my air cleaner remove my one inch spacer it still would hit the hood. given, just maybe if i shaved the air horn off the carb but man even then the carb would get no air and what do you run as an air cleaner? i think the one that is on here has a EFI looking air intake set up. but like i said that is really really close.

I'm making a lot of headway. There was a great issue of Popular Hot Rodding I was able to dig up called "Blowers". There is a ton of info in that issue (August 2007).

I'm still ok having something stick out of my hood. But after talking to Maverick Man there are some new issues that I really need to address. The main factor is reliability. I want to commute with this car and I'm gonna be cruising at 3000rpm on the freeway which means a lot of heat build up and so I want to make sure that's not gonna be a problem. If anyone has any thoughts on it please let me know, I'm gonna do my due diligence to find something suitable.

I had a 78 Trans Am with a 671 Dyers on a 60+ 455 and it was Hellishly fast and scary. Basically I bought the drivetrain and it came with a car to take it home. It was insane and attracted a LOT of attention. The engine sort of surged and pulsed at idle, is that normal?

that goes away (quickly) when you push down on the accelerator pedal :D

yes on many blown cars, the surge is normal, but again, alot of that depends on the set up. depending on how much over/underdriven, your carburation,compression,ect... with some of the newer efi systems alot, if not all of the surge can be tuned away.(if you want it to be);)

Most of them are this way because of ignorance or hard head syndrome. I have saw 70+ H.P. be got from a blower just from a timing change. Some people are just happy they run, They don't care or even want to know how to make them more efficient. Most will end up running higher boost than they need to make up for poor tuning. As always this is just my opinion and I'm sure others will vary.

I'd love to have a small supercharger on my Comet. I love the sound and the scare factor. I don't want one that is as big as the engine though. I was surprised how large a 671 is.

My 671 got 1/2 mile to the tank. And that with me barely flooring it at all times.

There is good points as well as bad from both a small blower as well as a big one. Its basically what you want and more important, How its tuned.

I don't want the blower to be as large as the engine. I want the proportions to look good.

I was expressing my concern about overheating problems to Bill at Dyer's Blowers and the reply I got. Now I was under the impression that boost is always being made but I guess not:

    -----------
    Hey Mo,
When you commute and run at highway speeds, the blower will not make boost.
It only makes boost under full throttle and full load.
So cruising on the highway will not make any more heat than at idle. Plus you have the benefit of 70 mph air going across the radiator.
    I run a 26.5" tire on my camaro with 4.10 gears. At 60 mph, I'm running 3000 rpms and at 70 it's 3500.

From my research so far it seems like it's better for me to go with a Weiand 174. From what I've read and others I've talked to the 6-71 might be too much. Does anyone have anything to add to this?

I wouldn't say 2 much,( I LOVE BIG BLOWERS) But the 174 will hide under a Cowl hood. This could deter theft of expensive carburetion etc. But there will be very little difference in the other stuff you will need. As far as tuning they will be virtually the same, You wont have to synchronize or buy another carb. But other than that the tuning and install will be almost the same.
