Hello everyone, My first car was a '74 2 door 250 -6 cyl Maverick that I was given by my great grandmother. In my youth, I only wanted to go fast which it did not. So I sold it and ended up in a Mustang. Many years later I understand how special that little green two-door was and I'm trying to find it. I have the VIN 4W91L194914 but finding a short VIN with a VIN lookup site is a no go. I was hoping that in a Maverick forum I may have some luck with locating a way to find it or if i was really fortunate find some lucky sob that actually has my old car and would want to sell it back to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Decoded the VIN to make sure I had it correct. You are in the right place, there is a list of all reported VINs from members here. Hopefully you'll get lucky and it's on the list!
to the forum! Good luck with your search! You might want to also post what year you sold the car and what city and state the person you sold it to lived.
Sold it to him in 1993 and I know in 94 he moved to Texas. He told me that he sold it to someone while he was in Texas but doesn't have any idea who it was.
Welcome from Portland, OR. I want to say finding that car would be difficult even if it was still around. And, if someone did enough work to it to want to keep it that long, they may not sell it......if they didnt do a lot of work to it......well, it may not be around. I dont want to discourage you, but rather ENCOURAGE you to find a suitable maverick to build/have. If it is more about finding that one with a family connection, I understand and wish you all the good fortune possible.
The car is likely long gone, but would be cool if you did find it. You might as well just buy yourself another one and build it the way you would have done that one.
Sad but true... During mid '80s and through the '90s most of these cars took their last ride --- to the crusher...
from Atlantic Canada! I have added your VIN to the 1974 VIN List. Good Luck in your search. Have you posted any Craigslist ads in Texas? @rwbrooks50 used to buy and sell lots of parts and parts cars in the Forney, TX. He may know of cars sitting around or possibly scrapped??
