Wouldn't it be easier to just take off the steering wheel and remove the lock cylinder?...

That is the point of this entire thread ... you cannot remove the lock cylinder without a key .... :)

OK got it home. Some nice person popped the trunk latch out so that is not an issue. Tomorrow (it turned into a lovely day trip) I'll go and get Locksmith man to make me another key.

I'll be needing one of those trunk locks now...

Now how do I get the crappy locking gas cap off. Juuuust kidding.

You can fix your original trunk lock so that any Ford trunk key will work in it. No one will know but you. Why buy a new one if you don't have to?...

Did they destroy the metal around the lock when they punched the lock out?

Nope it looks good. I'll get with Craig and get a trunk lock set to use.

That's good, don't know how many cars I have seen where someone takes a screwdriver and a hammer and destroys the metal trying to get into the trunk.
My sister lost the keys to my car and I had to take out the back seat and crawl through and unlock the trunk. Wouldn't want to do that again they would have to use the jaws of life to get me out.

Many years ago I sent my young daughter in to unlock one. I wonder if that will leave an emotional scar?

That would work if somebody hasn't changed out a door lock or ignition lock at some time----result 1 key for doors, 1 key for ignition, 1 key for trunk.
