Every chance I can. Mostly charity shows.. Cruz nights when ever I can and the Goodguys events I work at. Never go to a show to win, just go for the cars and the fun. There is nervious to nothing about...
oh dang! you got a good amount of time to study for drivers training i already got my permit but when i show up for the license test i wonder if i should take the mav. no passenger mirror, no rear window defroster, Radial Ta's and a loud exhaust! i'll be 16 in january myself...
Go to a couple local cruises/shows and feel it out... see what kind of iron showes up if your nervous about going to one with your ride right away.Personally I go to as many cruises/showes as my time allows.I never plan to or look to get any kind of award/trophy.I go for the cars and the comradiree(SP?)Lots of cool poeple to talk to and bench race with and its allways a good time. After a few you start to run into people you saw at the last couple shows and low and behold you have cruise freinds to talk too. Most of all dont be nervous,do have fun though.I love when it rains and you see all the scramblers running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to close up/cover up their cars... it can be entertaining.
last car show i was in there was a firework show next to it and the cars were just covered with all kinds of powder and scraps. there was a couple convertibles with there top down even. i hopped in a drove away as the others were panicking trying to get it off LOL
I am contemplating letting my son take his drivers test in PINKY, can you imagine the look on the "tester" if that was to happen
Took my road test in a 66 SS 396 4 speed Malibu. The instructor got in the car and said "your not going to kill us in this thing are you?" I promised him I wouldnt.... I passed. Of course he cinched his lap belt down good and tight after I started the thing up.
go for it... here is a pic. of Effie, Patches and I at a car show in Atlanta and ...Chip Foose was the judge..:Handshake

I have been showing cars since I was 18. I have competed in shows where they take white gloves to the undercarriage of the vehicles. Those shows where 3-5 days long. I do admit that when I enter a show I go to win. I will tell you that I quit showing for some years because it does take a lot of work to have a car at an award worthy level. One thing I did love about showing cars is the life long friends I have made with people that have the same interests and I do. But I have also made as many friends on cruz nights and meet and greets. If you are proud of what you have and don't worry about winning then go ahead and enter some of the smaller shows and be prepared to find new friends and have a good time.
I've found out over the years, that you'll see them called "Show & Shine". If they are judged, it's a peoples choice. Always have fun talking with people, about back in the day, when they had one..... Go for it..... If it's a "Car Show" with judges, I don't put the car in it. I'd rather just take it, to show it, & bring back memories. I love the stories.....
