saw this yesterday...before... http://cdn.wn.com/pd/cb/0c/aac692e58172d04e88e6b7244f5e_grande.jpg after...
Salvaged after a wreck, bought for next to nothing and being repainted now that the bodywork is done. The new top goes on after the paint cures... Id drive it.
didn't look wrecked...the 3 hood scoops were installed looking like the instalation of the back glass... ...gobs of bondo... ......
Doubt that.....I've seen these newer salvaged cars selling for half their retail price.....for a $30,000+ car like that, that's $15,000. Now, if you shop around, find private sellers, you might get a deal.....but the late model salvage business is on a roll, and their prices are not "next to nothing", they're nowhere even close to nothing
They are a fun little car. I work on quite a few. Can pick them up used well under 20 grand now. Most are real low mileage around here as Summer cars. New customer just picked up and 06 for 16 grand with 20000 miles. Far cry from the 60 grand price tag 5 years ago. They were a tough sell as a new car around here. 100% Mercedes but that Chrysler badge did in the sales I think. Great cars with very few problems though. REAL fun with the supercharged package and man do they handle well!! A proven platform with proven technology before Mercedes went nuts and ruined cars with new technology that failed miserably. Big lesson learned for them.
my buddy bought one 2 yrs back with 28k on it for $14k.... they stickered for nearly $40k new and were a flop. compared to the sticker price, these can be had for next to nothing and are the chrysler counterpart to theMercedez Kompressor i believe
They are built on the old SLK chassis which was replaced by a new SLK chassis for the Mercedes model. The crossfire actually turned out to be a more dependable car than the new SLK chassis that was plagued with over engineering flaws and software issues that made Microsoft look stable. Mercedes was huge on using proven technology to make the cars dependable. Worked great in the Crossfire and older Mercedes models. They got away from that for a few years and went techno crazy. It ruined a handful of models and they had to buy back hundreds of cars that they couldnt fix. Too bad the Crossfire was such a sales flop. We couldnt get rid of them. I think we only sold about 6 if you can believe that. They were forced on the dealers in packages. Its was quite the car for the money but didnt sell.
