Don't mean to hijack the thread, but would love to see some pictures of your 4links. I think after this season I may think about changing my rear suspension from the 1979 version it currently uses. Although I don't have a 4link the best 60' is a 1.410 along with best 1/4 mile of 9.801 on the old motor. I have had SPD redo the headers and Mike's Transmission loosened up the converter while he refreshen'd the Glide to see if we can't get down in the 1.2's this season...............we just keep trying.
N/A. Never dyno'd. I figure low 600's based on weight (2500 with me in it). Lots of torque though (methanol does that).

Wow, I think all of yall have good 60ft's mine was 2.64 I think cause my tranny is stock and I could only build it up to 1500 for some reason, foot brake. People say I'm supposed to run alot faster than that
Thanks MavMan, really a very informative thread and I'll look for the rest. Since my Maverick was setup under NHRA B/SM rules back in the late 70's it was running 10.5" tires, but when the guy who bought it from the original owner redid it they tubbed the car and did a mini backhalf..............so I don't think I will need to do a full backhalf, but I currently run 31x13x15's in the rear and because it still runs leaf springs it just sits too high............although it does a decent job of hooking.................I'm sure the 4 link would improve that. Would you happen to have any pictures showing the car from the front coming off the line? Thanks, John

NO lift of the tires at all, was running it that way for a while to learn the car's ET changes and my reaction times throughout the day. Sometimes lifting the tires out of the beams can mess with ET and reaction times. Not much but when we're bracket racing, the difference between a win and a loss is many times just a few ten thousandths of a second which was EXACTLY why I decided to do an entire back half, as opposed to a mini-tub with leaf springs. Leaf springs have some give to them, both in the bushings and in the spring itself. Any "give" equals a potential for lost consistency. 4 link eliminates that, well, as long as coilovers are used and a racing 4 link is installed (not a 4 bar street rod setup which is garbage for a drag car). And with a dedicated 4 link, you get some adjustability which is nice for changing track conditions. Or if the car is changed and the suspension needs to be compensated for it (e.g. a major power increase or decrease). Not to mention resale. I think the first time I ever drag raced with the Maverick, it was right about that 60' too. We have to start somewhere, right? BTW, nice looking car.
WOW. I have stock bottom end 302, edelbrock RPM heads,190/160 valves. Comp mild cam, 650 HP carb.462 rear spooled, C4 with 3500 convertor. Foot bracking can only get to 2600 b4 it pushes me thru lites. 60 ft is 2.00 /2.07 consistantly , running 1330s to 1340s at 104/105 mph. Using255/60/15 drag radials.I thought this was slow for me and car at 3000lbs
The very first pass I made with my Maverick the 60' time was a 2.01 and my time was like a 13.79...............the second ever pass was a 1.89 60' and 13.23 1/4 mile....................fast forward a year and the last pass I made before refreshening the motor/trans/rearend was 1.4 and 9.801 in the 1/4.
Well...it's actually 3 hoods. I bought a broken 'glass hood from another Maverick'er about 2 hours from here. I also had a Mustang hood that I used some glass pieces from. The scoop I bought off of Ebay for $6 and just kind of made everything work.
