hey Clint i found it works just as well and a whole lot cheaper and parts are easy to get
Jamie TL is right ,your plugs will never get enough spark/voltage with a regular
    coil

Do I need to run a straight 12 volts to this coil(TFI)?

Just thought I would give you guys and update. I installed the TFI coil and regapped the plugs to .45. For now I have the TFI coil mounted on the shock tower because after searching the 3 junkyards top to bottom, I couldn't find a suitable bracket to mount it on the engine. There was 2 holes already drilled in the shock tower, and by some miracle, they matched up with the bottom 2 bolt holes on the coil. I used 8 little nuts per screw to space it out enough so that it didn't actually touch the shock tower.

I decided to just go ahead and buy a new coil. The one from my dad's Mustang had over 100,000 miles on it. I got this coil from Advance for 13 bucks. It's for a 1989 F350 with a 460. (y) As if the Duraspark upgrade didn't make the car run good enough, this coil made it run twice as good. I got a very noticeable increase in power when I put this coil on, not to mention easyer starts and even better gas mileage. I bumped the timeing up just barely and richend up the carb a tiny bit and right now it's running awesome. :thumbs2:

I'm driving it down to Terry's tomarrow (pending the weather), and I can't wait to see what kind of mileage I get on the interstate. Odviously, I need to clean up my wireing a little bit. It's all over the place...
