I tried the heat gun, doesn't do anything on the 3/16" stuff. I bet the 1/8" sheet would work better in the doors. I didn't want to spend a ton, having them contoured would have tripled the cost.
Great job, maybe when your bored you could possibly do a write up on this? This is my first post and I've been looking into many things would like to build a street/bracket car, would like to save as much weight as possible and still "look" stock. And you did a great job with the lexan !
Not really sure, I lost around 75lbs on my Cougar, but that was with removing all 4 regulators. I'm making a lot of changes. New AJE front end and 412w. Depending on the total weight savings the car should run 9.10-9.30's. My Cougar with almost the same combo has been a 9.52 so far at 3300lbs, hoping to get the Maverick down to 2900lbs.
Man I make a habit of weighing every single thing removed and weighing new stuff going in and write it all down.
