Lest this old thread get anyone else sidetracked, 100-7703 do NOT fit and are NOT the right knurl for a '74 or '76 Maverick 5 lug stock 8" rear end.

P1010929.JPG Correct knurl diameter our Mav/Comet is .547 - .550", even Moroso and some other aftermarket replacement studs, say that you may have to redrill holes on axles to accept larger .625" knurl............
I ran into this issue looking for longer studs, when I purchased some aluminum rims, found out that my stock studs on my rear axles where not quite long enough. Ended up using studs on a set of old front disc brakes which where long enough, however I had to slightly machine down shoulder just in front of the knurl to .529" to help engagement into the axle hole.
LH stud from 74 axle, approx. 1 1/2" full thread, RH stud from 74 front disc, approx. 1 3/4" thread.........

That is great info! I know Ford had different sizes for knurls, between the years, just never really knew what years! Same goes for center hub on their axles, some had the smaller or larger diameters, again depending on the years........that would seem to match up with my 74 axle studs and front disc studs.

I plan to attempt to drill out my axles with a 39/64 drill bit and press in ARP 3" long studs with the 0.625 knurl, but another bit of information that is hard to find is that the stock studs for my 74 axle are impossible to find in extended lug lengths of 3", which is why I am going to drill and press in the longer ARP studs.
