If its got good oil pressure, Id treat it like a new one for a while, maybe change the oil a few times, see what the pressure looks like while cranking it with the plugs out,, Did you use the new heads on the old block? any noticable difference in the compression chambers VS the new/old heads? I got a 88 roller engine in the ol maverick, I cant complain about it one bit! The reverse rotation water pump,,, can ya keep it??? They say, that design keeps them cooler,,,,, mine, I cant get it over 180 degrees beating on it with the reverse water pump. I put a good 15-20K miles on it before dropping it into the mav. I think the roller cam engine, (the stock roller cam, not a race cam) the whole engine seems quieter, smoother,, but it will get with it! even with a 2 barrel! I hope that engine runs! SOmetimes ya get lucky and catch them before the real damage happens, I lost oil pressure in a 350 bowtie once,,, I think I got 20 miles before it was knocking on heavens door. I have not blown up a ford yet,,,, they are built, Ford Tough. Good Luck!!

I will start it up tomorrow or the next day, after I get the oil pan back on. It will have Shell Rotella and be broken in like any new cam should. After the 20 minutes, I will swap oil and filter and see what happens, assuming the oil pressure is good during the "break in" and the car is still running...

Got the new block on a stand and have a bunch of parts on order (some gifts, some recycling, and a short list of new parts I will need). Might finish it up with income tax return in February...

If you got new shell,,, I don't think it has the zinc in. Need GM OCS or whatever its called.

My bet would be,,, 20 seconds before you shut the key off for the last run! Good Luck

The Shell Rotella is 15W-40, and has extra labels all over it saying it is recommended for diesel engines, has extra wear protection, etc.

    Fingers are crossed...

those look look a lot like peices of rod bearings to me, worth pulling some caps off to look, no sense in destroying a block, having a crank turned is pretty cheap. Two words, plastigage, crankshaft
