I am still waiting for my first car... license will late Jan. I want a maverick...but i'm not sure what to go for. There aren't many for sale around here... and it's even harder to find one with a V8 in it. What I thought about doing was finding someone that would be able to replace the straight 6 in whatever maverick I got with a late modle 302 5.0HO. Thing is... where in the world could I find someone near me that knows about mavericks and could do it for a reasonable cost? Then... I could keep it FI... or go carbed. I want power... but must have MPG.... and I am really not experienced enough to go and replace pistons, cams, heads and such.... if you took the 225hp FI 302 and made it carbed what would happen to MPG and HP/torque? Or what if I found a mav with the original V8 in it? It would save a lot of hassle... but how could a non expert make a lot of power with good MPG from it? Whatever I do to this car (if I can get it) can't cost me too much... i'm only 16. Yes I do have a very well paying job, but I can't blow craploads of money on this car all together.
The answer is simple, Thou must find the house of borrowings in Xantippar, the house was filled with a smell of Garlic, this would mean that the carpenter and the butcher(who resided in this house) were not at home, the wives of these men, however .. were! Now the hint is, what is wrong with this story? It will lead you to the path of the answers you seek.
Instead of the "Lord of the Rings", we can call Rick the "Lord of the Mavs" after that one!!:16suspect
Sorry for the post above, PCGuy. No offense. I'd seriously consider keeping the 6 cyl for a while. Wear that engine out and be building a motor and collecting V8 parts in the meantime. There are plenty of posts on what you'll need to make the swap (search V8 SWAP). Just my humble o. Good luck when you get it - and don't forget to show pictures.
Does your High School have a decent auto shop? That is a great place to learn what makes your car tick. Take every class you can and hang around before and after school in there. Watching the older guys and being their "tool gopher" helper will get your learning on the right track. You will be one of the "experts" in no time. Also, read, read, and read somemore. Factory service manuals and Chiltons type books are great stuff.
Hey PCGUY, just where at in IL are ya, I live in Evansville, IN and I can be in some parts of IL in less than an half hour. I just did a 302 swap on my car and would be glad to help you out if I can. I didn't do and EFI I just went with a carb. But EFI will be on the wifes car.
