The original pipe is 2" if I am not mistaken, i shoved a 2 1/4 over it and the bracket cannot be slid down. I will say this, the original pipe is thicker than aftermarket exhaust pipes...so it is is more like 2 1/8...

you guys were right the hi-pos dont fit 1 i tried both sides.i know two different people on this site who have used the hi-pos and they both said they fit perfect .i suppose i will have to use the maverick specific manifolds instead,i just dont like the maverick passenger side manifold but the driver side seems like it will have a better scaveging effect.OH an di also found some used flanges today

What kind of power are you making/looking to make? Those people must be using a rack and pinion steering system. You can open your stock manifolds up with a carbide burr to the size of the gasket or port match them. I personally regret putting headers on my Maverick, but I needed to...

I would stick with the stock manifolds. I know people will tell you all kinds of stuff, but at 325 hp you will not be leaving much on the table. I have a 331 stroker with afr 185 heads and a good sized cam...I hated the header install...and if I could have used manifolds, I would have. I worked with a guy that tuned cars for a living (mostly LS stuff) and he said the biggest hp robbers in exhaust systems are the mufflers. I would say at your power levels I would even run dual 2 1/4 pipes. I made the mistake of running dual 3" pipes on my car and it was too loud, went with 2 1/2" with 18" cherry bombs and absolutely love it.

And just in case you are thinking full length headers...here is a pic of all the dents I had to put in mine so they would fit. I got the Hooker headers and they hit everything. The steering box, the bolt holding the hydraulic power steering ram bracket, the shock tower, etc. Save yourself the hassle and enjoy your car instead.

Your picture of your Hooker 6901 headers would keep me from installing them. Mine went on without any problems; zero modification. I've read other member's comments on their Hooker installations with some issues but nothing like you show!

Are those on your car now?

They are off right now because the engine is out and I am finishing up the AJE K member install. They will most likely be going back in temporarily until I switch to an LS, but I doubt they will be an issue since there will be no shock towers and no steering box. I personally felt like the amount of spaces that it hit in was preposterous. A lot of those "dents" also give me about 1/8" of clearance. Pitman arm and steering box especially.
