since i was not alive during any of the original maverick production....... what was the cost of 'original' louvers in the mid 70's? i want to know to compare with inflation rates,,, and not that 'core rate' the government is shuving down our throats
yea i gotta say it was a bit of a sticker shock, i was hoping for a 3 maybe 400 buck price tag but if someone really wanted a set i'd like to know where you could get them cheaper... i'd like to know where you could get one somewhere else, period they might be a bit out of my reach but that surely doesnt make it an unfair or unrealistic price.
I seen a Maverick once that had a front aluminum visor. This was years ago, before even the cell phones. It looked midevil and was really neat.
Last set of louvers I bought was in 1988 and they cost around $400.00 then. Back in the Maverick days, plastic ones could be bought for around $129.00, they were total junk. Good set was north of $200 like Mrcuda states. Dan
Glad to see these will be built......not my cup of tea.....but glad for those that will want a set......I will just say that to me the price isn't that far fetched......go build a set yourseolf and find out.....I also agree making somthing and selling it is far differnet than buying up all the NOS parts and then gouging on a resell......
We don't build ANYTHING until an order is placed, I may try talking John into building matching side window louvers. several Mavericks pictured in the gallery would look totally KICK ASS!! with surround louvers
Louvers improve everything. So do sidepipes and Cragars and big 'n small tires and bucket seats and hood scoops and T/A scoops and traction bars and spoilers and hood pins and...
You could get Cragar louvers from JC Whitney for like 80 bux in the 70s. I never bought a set, but dad put them on everything...
curb feelers and static strips(?) and CB antennas and barefoot pedals and chain steering wheels and shag carpet and amber driving lights and bumper hitches (on cars that never should tow anything)...
LOL! I have a set up for my GT. I did actually use it once to get my tool box out of a rat hole I worked at. I was told something that upset me so bad I went straight to UHaul and came back and loaded up in the middle of a couple of jobs that needed new nuts and bolts upon my departure. It was kinda scary with all the weight, but worth the scene created.
