I'm in the exact same boat. Nobody seems to have found any info or done it with the stock k-member or front suspension.

    Even the next suggestion:

... although helpful, doesn't quite get the point across that some of us are trying to ball on a legit budget. I'm in college yet and I'm trying to do a bit of hot rodding before I hit the real world and have no time.

So on a barebones budget, does anybody know of anyone that has done it without an aftermarket K-member?

For simplicity sake buy a camaro. In the long run it would probably be easier to make the payment.

I daily drive a 02 Ws6... I'm more interested in hot rodding. I've always loved old cars, love fast cars, and would love the learning experience.

    Anyone else? Haha

You said you were on a budget. That's the best way to go on a budget. Camaros are cheap and the ls engine slides right in. Just saying.

Only issue you will have is the shock towers. Someone else posed the question on here not long ago and I linked to an article where it was done in a Mustang. Same basic car but a wider engine bay. They used the GTO oil pan as mentioned earlier. Hit google for a Mustang LS with stock suspension.

Now that would be badass. I've seen the video of the 2JZ Maverick floating around... but a Cummins Maverick. That's next level bad a**.

You do have a great point for budget... But 2900 lbs before any weight reduction... They're slept on so hard. Power to weight ratio makes them a no brainer. Little 300 horse NA motor with a 150 of nitrous would be a quick little car.

The GTO oil pan might actually work! I did a little measuring today and it’s got potential! Anyone else gain any ground on the idea? I’m hoping to borrow a mock up engine from a friend of mine and toss a GTO oil pan on it.

Aside from that? Does anyone have any clue if there are SBF to LS conversion engine mounts?

Problem with mounts is they are different for most every chassis.

I'd guess early Mustang LS mounts are available but dunno if they can be adapted to Maverick.

I made the plate that bolts to the LS block for the motor mounts, then drilled the holes for the motor mounts.

So you used a plate similar to most other Ls swap plates? Also, in your opinion, what do you think the chances of a GTO pan working? Going into an i6 car without the extra subframe I think you could move the engine back to cradle? The steering components

same plate...when done I had about as much in them as to have bought them...:yup:
the oilpan was my biggest mod. I had a truck pan sectioned and narrowed. also had to mod the pickup tube.
hood clearance was also an issue. I had a fiberglass cowl hood made ( Jimmy2gates).
with my stock Grabber hood I have 3/8" clearance and 3/8" oilpan to crossmember clearance.
that's why I went to the MSD EFI it was the shortest fueling system out there. the 600 Holley was 3/8" too tall for the Grabber hood...even with the choke horn removed.
the Holley Sniper EFI is supposed to have this option. Let's hope this A/C cutout doesn't cost me ...$1200...LOL

this thread may need to be moved to...non Ford engines...section.
