Like Frank mentioned.. considering the steering component design/layout under these cars, I'd think you'd be into rear oil pan clearance mod's even with the gto pan. I helped a buddy's brother do an early Camaro LS swap last summer and he bought an LS conversion pan off ebay. Tons more room compared to the truck pan. A quick clue would be that if everything was a simpler bolt in solution for LS swaps into these cars?.. you'd see tons being done and there'd be many comprehensive writeups around here.
Hey Scott: You might want to check out LEN TECH in New York for an AOD ..The make bullet-proof converters also , I Ran one in my 71 Grabber , and the 74 Comet .. BTTW out of the Gate and Cruise with the Overdrive on HOT ROD Power Tours .. Great Package. JMO Cometized (Chip)
Not sure which exact part my bud's bro-in-law used for his LS conversion but I see there are TONS of LS conversion pans out there these days. Hard to believe they can even make money on some of these parts but I guess labor and mig wire must be pretty damned dirt cheap over there. What about something like this? Thoughts, Frank? https://www.angusracing.com/shop/ls-fabricated-oil-pan-front-sump/
I couldn't find the pickup tube or windage tray, will need a remote oil filter. as far as fitting.....maybe.
I'd guess a remote filter would be just about mandatory if he want's a legitimate shot at making it work with stock suspension. Or if not?.. to at least make filter changes possible without special tools or partial steering component disassembly?
with my rack n pinion setup it took... 4.5 hrs. to make motor mount stands (going from 347 to LS), trans crossmember, hook up exhaust and install driveshaft... this is where my stock exhaust manifolds came from.. 2015 Camaro 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. pics are after angle milling and a little cleaning up...
I ‘m not clear on 2 filter setup! Interested in knowing how it works and if it’s needed/backup or peace of mind? Not being funny, never seen that type of setup.
my engine came stock with an oil cooler. I'm not running it so I ran the lines to a remote oil filter. they make twin filter remote systems so this is nothing new. it just gives me an extra qrt of oil.
