Try a sos pad on the letters. Works good to bring back the wjite on street tires, should work on the MT's too.

Almost no one puts tubes in ET streets or slicks .

My 28x9 ET Drags and Pro stars were purchased off ebay with tubes already in them.

When I decided my car needed a shorter tire (it did!) I sold the 28`s with the tubes,
and bought a pair of 26x8 ET drags and installed them with no tubes.

Just as friends had cautioned me, The tires without the tubes lose air quickly!

They will go FLAT in 2 days! The tires that had tubes would stay inflated for weeks before needing air. I don`t know if ET streets are this way or not.

In my opinion ...if you are driving to the track on the tires you should air them up to 25 psi . Do a very Short burn out and make a pass. If it spins then lower the air pressure until it hooks .

The lower air pressures will make the car feel more mushy and unstable at high speeds and THAT takes some getting used to.

So: 1. Run as much air pressure as you can without spinning (25 psi max)

    2. Do as little burnout as you can get away with without spinning on the launch (why burn off rubber if its not neccessary?)

My car doesn`t "hit" the tires hard on the launch and I`ve found that I can run 18-20 psi ...and Hook very well.

I drive through the water and stop were the pavement is almost dry... blip the throttle just to "wipe `em off" and pull to the line.

I started out doing small but smoky burmouts and then did less and less until I realized I barely need to spin them at all to get a good launch. (tires are gonna LAST!)

Here is a pic launching with the 28`s at Windy Hollow (2006 Round-up)

I noticed that the one with the tube had 5 or so psi of air in it (haven't been used in many years). The one without the tube was completely flat. M/T says that the tires need a tube because they do NOT hold air, and the sidewalls will leak.

I put 20psi in each, put a cap on the valve, and will watch them over the next week or two, but I am pretty sure the tubeless one will be flat after a few days.

As for the letters, they are still white, a little. They have just been laying on the ground in the mud long enough that the white is just barely there. I want to freshen it up. I like the one white line and/or the white M/T...I will make it bright and white, just to show them off :D

It never ceases to amaze me that people will spend inordinate amounts of money on making more horsepower and then go "low buck" by purchasing used slicks.

If they have been laying in the mud.....why would you put them on your car?

Here is a little trick to prevent the tires from leaking air so quik. With the tire off smear a bunch of dawn inside the tire all over this will fill in the pores of the tire to prevent slow leaks. Mine have been aired up with no tubes for about 6 months Ive had to put very little air back in.

Shadow...Because they were free, and I didn't have to spend $170 each for the tires, and $150 each for the rims.

And since I go to the track 1, maybe 2 times a season, why spend big bucks for rims slicks to slap on a 200-250HP car?

The $500 I "could" have spent on new rims and slicks will go into carpet for the car, and a new kitchen floor :D

Will the tubes make them perform any better, or just slow down the air leaks?

the dawn soap trick has been around for a long time. it works. when i ran my et streets i ran 13 pounds of air. i also ran tubes in them. if you put in too little air the whole car may get squirrely at the top end. speaking of deals, one of the guys at the track bought a set of et drag slicks for the et finals last oct and has used them for 3 other races and didn't want them anymore. they're $157 each in jegs and i got them both for $50.:D

    Thread??? What thread? :D

I think I will go overboard and SPEND the extra $10 for new innertubes...Maybe I won't catch so much $hit for buying used slicks if I fork out a little cash for some 'tubes :p
