:hmmm:How / What did you change I thought that the steering boxes werent interchangeable with the pitman arms? I'm dieing to go back to manual... I had a 69.5 that was and with the 302 it just made things easier,

power assist has like 16:1 ratio, little faster, manual is like 22:1, little more arm work, but it is a little easier to turn without power.

the control valve is on the driver's side of the center link, where the pitman arm connects to the center link. It is not part of the ram.

hmm... I was told by several sources that the splines were different between the manual and power pitman arm.

    I wonder...

The splines are the same, hell the whole box is identical except for the ratio. You could have 22.5:1 ratio power steering if you wanted.... ;)

I put a Torino box in my Maverick. They are a direct swap. The Maverick uses the Fairlane/Torino (~66-71) box. A Mustang box will not work. My Torino box is a 16:1 and I still have manual steering, but it's not too hard to handle IMO.

Was it the pitman arm is different to go with a manual centerlink? like the manual pitman arm has the ball and socket on it, where the power pitman has the ball and socket on the control valve?
