I thought the difference between the 70-72 and the 73 valance was the size of the opening below the bumper.

Yep, Thats where mine is. In the box. Until I muster the courage to start drilling holes in my valance. Its not real finished either. It has a bunch of pock marks that need to be filled. Too bad nobody makes one that fits perfect. I dont know... maybe out of say... carbon fiber? Wheres that Maverick Man??? Its about time someone make a better spoiler. Seems to be a constant demand for the front spoilers too.

"IF" someone were going to make front spoilers, I'd think that an optimal material would be something like an abs plastic, so that it woudnt crack, fracture,or disintegrate if you ran over a dead gopher (or, insert your own road hazard here).:D

I had one on the 77 that was made like this, but the co. is no longer around .

I got mine from Maverick Connection. I took the valance off the car. Started in the middle & worked my way out. Fits great..... Thanks again Chuck.....

I honestly don't know the answer here....
I have been told your spoilers are from MAS, or at least the same spoiler.
    Is that true?
Or are yours not the same spoiler?

Edit: I am asking an honest question here looking for an honest answer to help members.
If your spoiler is made by a totally different entity, then it would help folks to know because fitment would certainly be different. For better or worse, and it seems like you have happy campers with your spoiler. If it is an MAS, then that's good to know as well.

MAS does not make their own Maverick spoilers, nor do I.

It's not a fair question. To me, it's no different than asking a politician about his sex life. Who gives a crap? The thing that's important is the quality of the politician's work, or in this case the quality of the part AND my advice for a good installation, which I gladly offer my customers. When Ratio411 gets MAS to post on here who their supplier is, then I'll do the same.

    Wow!

Seems to me that you just set yourself up for not answering a very fair question. To some it would cast that your hiding something. Ratio411 did not ask MAS any questions, he asked You!

He asked noithing about advise for a good installation, just if in fact that the spoilers are the same.

Ratio411 does not have to get MAS to post here.

We don't care about your sex life!

    Question:

Is the spoiler sold by you and MAS in fact the same, meaning does it come from the same source?

Thanks for all your hard work in keeping the Maverick guys in parts.

    Tom

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i've seen inconstancy in these spoilers. some fit some don’t. my thought.. remember if Fiberglass molds get old if they don’t redo them things like that happen.

i’ve thought of CF ones trust me… however to be honest I don’t like making repos of things that didn’t exist in the first place. I did it with the Cowl hood never again! too much trouble! you tend to have fitment issues gaps and other such problems more to an extent then CF. CF is not perfect but 1000xs better then anything in fiberglass! i don’t know if anyone has ever seen a spoiler and end caps from MAS…. wow! talk about horrible!! i mean it doesn’t need to be perfect cuz the OE ones are not either…. but when the end caps sit about ¼ inch higher and a 1/4 then spoiler and the spoiler is a 1/4 shorter in width to the end cap something just is not right!

so would i do it. not at this time. ;)

yes abs plastic or urethane would be awesome and constant! however set up cost on that would NOT be worth it. you’d have to sell like 10,000 of them to make a profit! And you know maverick guys ;) and you know why the company that made the one for your 77 is no longer around… ;)

The sad thing is, there used to be a plastic one available. I have had one on one of my cars in the past. I don't remember where it came from but I'm sure they are no longer around anyway.

For once I was not trying to stir up trouble with Chuck.
I just wanted to know if they were the same source so we could determine if one truely fit better than the other.

I take it they are of the same source.
