I'm just saving perfectly good orange paint from having to be stuck to the body of a Chevrolet.

Some progress came my way tonight via emails from Jean Doll. Dale has my passenger door just about finished, shaving the door handle, filling in the key cylinder hole and straightening out some prior side swipe damage from the previous owner of this replacement door. The photos show a light coat of black guide coat on it. Jean explained that when it's block sanded the guide coat will expose any areas that would still need work. Both of my doors will also be drilled for the sport mirrors since Jean has a pattern from a door that they have stored in their basement to go off of. That will be a big help for certain. :thumbs2:

I had to think long and hard about doing this, to these doors, as this becomes one of those "point of no returns" but the more I look at it, the more I like it :)

LOL.. that's a new one on me and I'll have to remember that one to share with my Camaro buddies. I think those guys are worse than the Mustang guys most of the time.

Why not just use the Mustangs grabber orange? You must like that extra bit-o-red in the GM version?

The story as I understand it: Dale & Jean Doll already had this gallon sitting on their shelf from a Camaro paint job they did a while ago - the Camaro took some front end damage and the customer wanted Dale to repair the damage and paint the entire car so hence the purchase of the full gallon - then the customer decided he only wanted Dale to match the front end repairs to the rest of the car so a smaller quanity of paint was purchased instead of using the full gallon - the problem was that the old paint still left behind was a really cheap Maaco job that no one could ever match so the customer wasn't completely satisfied with the outcome - I saw photos of the painted Camaro and it looked great to me - since then the owner wrecked the Camaro-----AGAIN!

It worked out for me since I was looking for an "in your face orange" color for my Maverick

Dale's part of the Camaro paint job was flawless by the way :bowdown:

Recycling good on the environment, just use the going green excuse next time
On a serious note, can't wait to see the car when painted. Would enjoy watching the reactions of camaro/mustang guys when they see it...priceless.

Bob is actually doing us a favor by taking that orange paint for his Maverick. There is nothing at all wrong with the paint it's self, but it is taking up space in our paint cabinet. Eventually it would have gotten thrown out if we could not find someone who wanted it. Best part of all, it's FREE! The guy who bought it has no use for it anymore and dosen't want it. So not only is perfectly good paint getting recycled and not ending up in a landfill somewhere, but it was bought and paid for by a Chevy guy who does not care too much for Fords. His car is now dead and Bob's Maverick is getting a new life. Sounds downright poetic to me. ;) :D

Glad to be of help, Jean :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

I originally wanted orange but started looking at the prices of the orange paint opposed to other colors and orange was much more expensive so I was kind of leaning towards a yellow instead. Through the Dolls kindness with the free gallon, I was back to my original plan. It worked out well for everyone- - -that is except the Camaro guy LOL!

Did I get the story of the Camaro somewhat correct?

Yep, you got the Camero story right. :yup: I did not mention all the "fill in the blank with the appropriate four letter word" moments we had while dealing with that guy, so I don't feel the least bit bad that the Camero is now trashed. Bummer. His loss is your gain. :D

That is why I omitted a few of the choice quotes from the day you and Dale told me that story :D
