Yeah I would agree yours was a 12k car.

And am still a little shocked the auction one went over 3200.
As I followed maverick sales for along time before finding mine.
Which I over paid for due to not wanting to pay insane shipping on similar shape cars.
Still came out 400 less than having one shipped here

I think this was a good thread, helped vent some of our collective frustration with our cars unto a 3rd party car. Not associated with anyone we know.

And it also let Olerodder know he might need new eyeglasses :p
I just got mine monday..had been 8 years since I had my last check up..its amazing how far i can see again.

I haven't followed the Mercat auctions much but when I have watched it seemed that the folks bidding had more cash to spend on cars than I do, so I don't blame the buyer. Can't take it with you when you go! Who knows? We may see that car again here on the forum and get to see all our ... concerns... with the car addressed and perfected!

As for finding/buying my project, not sure if I paid too much or not. Got close to three grand in the car and it's still up on blocks!! lol. Like you, Big, I wanted something I could retrieve myself. I'm happy with it but got a lot of work to do!

I hope the new owner doesn't join.. that would seem a bit cruel..if he read all those comments :(

I have, now invested almost 3 k but it drives. Not well or dependably yet but it does drive.

Made one trip around the block and realized (1) the only brake on the car working is the right front and it is alomst locked up and (2) rims and tires are just wrong for the car - too much backspace on the rims -. Hoping to get new brakes and different wheels in the next couple weeks and maybe go further than the block!

$4500 is a fair price for a decent looking V-8 2-door car from the 1970's in my opinion.

I agree the only people keeping maverick prices down are the owners
