You are correct the welded boss 302 heads were not allowed in the M/P classes, to run the pieced to gether heads you had to run Altered or Gas class ! The rule for H M/P was the same a for D M/P at 10 pounds per cubic inch the H class was 6 cylinder only D M/P was for V8 cars! Ported heads roller cam and multi carbs no shock tower mods were allowed!
Until they CRACK! Stay away from them. I like em too, but ohwell! Drove past their old factory in lansing, mi a couple weeks ago. Good ole days......
