While I haven't done anything to my 77 (everything up front was fairly new when I bought it) I did completely go through my previous car, a 67 Big Block Stang with all new parts up front and convert it from 4 drums to 4 discs. My 77 Comet's got discs up front, 81 Bronco drums out back on the 9" rear.

Most of the Maverick/Comet suspension & steering is same as '66-'71 Fairlane, Torino, Ranchero, Falcon, Cyclone & Montego. With '67-'70 Mustang & Cougar also similar, as are '75-'80 Granada & Monarch. The upper & lower control arms are all same. Torino/Mustang disc brakes are different than Maverick/Comet/Granada. Performance approx same.

If you have deep pockets there is probably at least a half dozen aftermarket setups that require cutting and welding.
