I've had the pleasure of meeting about 30 people off this board since Feb. 2005. Been driving Mavericks as daily drivers since I was 17, have logged over 85,000 miles behind the wheel of a Maverick so far. Been around these cars my entire life.
I'm not in north Mississippi, but just over the line in Memphis. I'm 29, drive my Maverick every day.
I can't even begin to count the times I'm out in the Comet and some idiot in a 90-something Civic or Integra flies by me and cuts me off then blinks their emergency flashers like they just won a race, ugh.
Bought ours for my daughter because I didn't get one in high school! Anyway, she said she hears from lots of "old guys, you know, like Dad's age!" (sorry, honey, those are her words!) about the mavericks that got away. She's been asked if its a camero? or is it some kind of mustang? She's also been asked more than once if it's her boyfriend's car. Her standard reply is "if I HAD a boyfriend, he sure wouldn't be driving my maverick. Rhonda
I'll bet I've met over a hundred owners over the years and never met one I didn't like. Well, maybe one. Many of them are family to me and thats not just cliche. I encourage you guys and gals to get to one of the main events hosted by either the MCCI, MCG, or CAMEO. You will never meet better people. Seeing the cars is just a bonus.
19 years old and have a '75 mav in the garage, family car since new, restoring it now. multi-year project
I know, I look young for my age I bought some beer while in Hannibal, and the girl asked me if i was 20, I said "Yeah, 20 years ago!"
I never met someone that drives a maverick and is over like 21. All the older guys here buy mustangs and camaros and us young ones drive the mavericks. I've been drivin mine since I got my permit at 15 so that's 5 yrs
i'm 24, married with a daughter on the way, had my mav since i was 20, don't drive it everyday, got my mazda for that, can't beat 38mpg with 70 mile round trip to work everyday. met few people so far, and everyone of em a stand up person, looking toward meeting more peeps, maybe roundup/gathering next year
These people are morons- plain and simply, drive by the knobs like you didn't even notice them and their little plastic cars, trust me that will drive the d*cks crazy.
I have met a few Maverick / Comet owners........... Hotrod Bob, nice guy,.... a crazy guy Larry Winter,........I once even met Daydreamer Ron..... Dale from Michigan..... and all the guys that come out to the Meet and Greets and Mini Meets that we do every year.
