AJE has had a kit out like this for a while now, fatman dropped spindles have been available for years also. They came down in price a bit.

The Fatman cradle looks like it hangs below the front frame rails a good 5-6 inches. Do you think would cause a front ground clearance issue? Maybe the pics are a little deceiving.

That setup looks STRONG with upper and lower A-frames AND strut rods. Would have been better if they'd made shock tower replacements that maximized engine bay space.

Funny the applications include Comets but not Mavericks.

I noticed that too when I was searching a while back. Not sure.. but it appeared to me to be a design flaw/limitation when retro-fitting those types of systems into these cars.

I do know for a fact that some of those really beefy setups are nose heavy as hell... which is why they are more at home on street rods.. than on racecars.

Probably for the early 1960s Comets.

Annoyingly enough a LOT of parts makers don't realize the 70-77 Comet is a completely different body from the 66-69.

or something like that. Noticed it quite a bit while looking for parts.

Looks like it bolts into the lower control arm hole. They must make a Maverick specific one, or they wouldn't advertise it in MM&F. I've looked at the Heidts hot rod kit, and it does hang down under the car bigtime.

I looked at it today, it doesn't look like it hangs any lower that the belly bar.

I met the guy that was working on that kit back in 2004 at the F100 meet in Knoxville, TN. He was very informative and very concerned about the crappy suspension quirks that we deal with on these cars, especially bumpsteer. The retention of the shock towers was intentional due to the bolt on nature of the kit and to properly carry the load of the front end. The braces and upper shock towers are critical to prevent torque box failure and that front end design triangulates the loading into the upper firewall. Those tin frame rails were never meant to carry the full weight of the front of these cars. These were his words, just passing along the info.
