hope everyone had a safe trip home... I went over to Ok. to visit my sister today. when Effie and I returned, Doug was in the parking lot loading up his car to leave tomorrow. we are planning on meeting in the morning for breakfast. Doug, has a story or two to share when he gets to the roundup... (one on himself and one on Dale)... ...A Large Time Was Had By All...
Dale's Adventure Dale wanted to go to the Oklahoma state line for a picture, so I joined him. When we turned around in Oklahoma, we had to pay to get off the Turnpike and then pay to get back on to go back to Missouri! ($1.50 total) With the camera propped on an ice chest and a suitcase, it turned out pretty good.
I think the idea is that all the extra caffeine in Mountain Dew increases your reaction time to stop the car!
futher up the line we were dealing with a... lighting problem.(front/rear) across the isle on a trailer there was a...gas tank leak...being repaired... a loose coil wire no start...one...out of gas...situation and a...busted trans. cooler line...something for everyone...we need more info. on the...A/C install... ......
See, I told you when you got there Gene - the Comet show was on the BACKSIDE of the hotel! The people that could tell the difference were back there, until they heard it was cancelled. Welcome to Oklahoma, Dale! Actually it is the car directly behind me. I was just taking a BRAKE (pun intended) to watch Matt and Mark perform some A/C magic. I wish I had a camera when they got back from Jeff's house after a charge with Mark holding the vent tube with COLD A/C to his face. I had a great time guys. See you next year!
Wow is all I can say. This year was another great Gathering. We are already looking forward to next year, wherever it may be. Thanks to everyone who helped put this on. Jeff and Misty Phillips, Matt and Marion Williams, Robert and Rhondi Raney, and to all who attended and made this what it was. A Gathering of friends who just happen to share an interest in Mavericks and Comets. Ruth and I and the girls made it home last night about 9 P.M. Almost no incidents. Just past Albuquerque I felt the steering wheel start to shake. We were 3 miles from Las Lunas, where we spent 3 days last year on the way to Joplin. We knew there was a Big O tire store there so we drove slowly to it. When I got out and looked at the truck tires there was one splitting apart. They didn't have another so they put my spare on for me and we went back toward Albuquerque to another Big O. Of course you know this tire had to be 1 month out of free replacement, so it was prorated and cost us about $112. Stoll not too bad for a $200 tire. We stopped in Sierra Vista Az. to visit with Ruth's sister and then headed home. Again thanks to all who attended and made this another memorable event.
