I have seen LOTS of Medium Yellow Gold Maverick Grabbers (Paint Code: 6C) out there. Here is an eBay auction for one:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Ford-O...e38286b&pid=100033&rk=7&rkt=8&sd=182316769409

According to the Marti Report of the last two I have seen, Ford only made 1,462 of these Maverick Grabbers in 1972. Sure seems to be a LOT of them out there for such a rare color (Including Nick Dominick's "Spooky).

I've seen quite a few lately too!

I wonder what the 'Body Side Tape Stripe' option was that is listed on the Marti Report? With it being a Grabber what other side stripe would be on it?

I just assumed it was the side stripes. I can't think of anything else it would be.

I agree, but I've never seen another Marti Report for a Grabber that listed those stripes on the option list.

Maybe if the stripes are listed as an option, they were originally the colored stripes with a contrasting outline stripe. The auction car is a repaint, so those stripes were likely replaced with black.

Here is another eBay auction for yet another Medium Yellow Gold Maverick Grabber:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Ford-Other-Grabber-/282220322344?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=9d08fSusFWXQgia72qAQMLnB8qc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

This one also has a Marti Report with it
This one LOOKS like it has multi-colored side stripes as well, and the auction states that this is original paint. Some pictures it looks like it has black stripes.

Nick's car had black stripes, and I know his was all original.

It does make one wonder how some cars got black stripes and some got multi-colored stripes.

I think upon further inspection, the stripes on the eBay auction above are all black.

Upon further thought, I think all the 1972 Grabbers had black stripes. It will be interesting what we find in the future and add to this thread.

So, the wilder color combos were just 70-71?

1970 was either black side stripes or white side stripes only. White side stripes in 1970 is pretty rare.

My first car was a 72 Grabber in medium yellow. Bought it in 73.

If you had enough Marti reports you could probably figure it out. I remember reading an explanation on the Marti Reports and how the numerical sequence acros the top of each one is how it is stored in the ford data records and these codes are what gives them the information to populate the reports. Might be able to analyze them and figure what the code is for the stripes. Maybe more have them just not included on the reports. I'm convinced they decide what all information to include on the reports. - Matt
