My car came from your great state. I am so glad it came from out West and wasn't here for the Michigan winters and salt. The car would have never survived 40 years of Michigan winters.

Sad isn't it. I think that was a 65 Falcon convertible after only 8 years in Michigan.

    Work Continues in October 2008

Here's a few more pictures of the progress in October of 2008. Since we are adding a working hood scoop to the car my brother wanted to reinforce the hood where the hood scoop would bolt on.

Second set set of pictures is preparation for the the Acid Etch primer.

Dark Grey Epoxy Primer October 2008

Here are some pictures of the dark grey epoxy primer. I know this isn't the most exciting stuff just trying to get caught up and show the progress.

    Test fit and Sanding Starts

November 2008 - all the priming is completed and sanding has started. Project will be put on hold for several months while my brother works on several other projects. This will also give me time to replenish my checkbook.

Next post will fast forward to the Summer of 2009 when the engine is pulled and rebuilt.

Notice the burnout marks in the driveway. They are from various tests of the transmissions and destruction of the old tires on the car. Marks are still there today.

P.S. Sorry that the thumbnails in the previous couple of posts didn't work right. I did post all of the pictures in my gallery. I'm new at this and slowly getting the hang of it. Not sure what the best/preferred way to show the pictures in the thread is, trying something new on this one.

    Fast Forward to June 2009

It is now June 2009, my brother has more time to work on my car so it's time to pull the engine. Engine provided several good burnouts, but we knew it was on it's last legs so we needed to pull it out to rebuild it

    055_engine_pull_6-09.jpg 056_engine_pull_6-09.jpg

I got the Maverick front fender from Indiana (Thanks Craig) and the driver's door was not the original door when I bought the car (looks like it came from a red Maverick). My brother didn't like the gap between the door and fender so he fixed it.

Very nice gap. And, a terrific weld! I have a brother like that too but he lives in AZ.
