My intent was to build the car like Ford SHOULD have ... both muscle car style and motivation. The current engine is a 95 Roller Cam 5.0 long block crate engine. Currently my only regret is not swapping out the factory cam with a Ford Motorsport Cam ... oh well .. not tearing it back down now .... :)

    Dan...

...where did you get your battery hold down bracket. Mine had rusted
out years ago. I got one off of a Ford car in the junkyard for mine. The
It was metal with rubber coating. The coating was torn, so I got it off
and cleaned it up and just painted it. Is plastic original?

Yeah, I wish it was that easy. I close shop at 5:30 every day, go home eat supper, come back to the shop about 7:00ish and work till 11-12:00 and I do this 3 or 4 days a week. I usually put another 10-12 hours in on weekends.
I could get my guys to do it like you said, but for some reason they don't want to work for free. And I've always been one that hates paying somebody for something I can do myself.
When I did my blue car the first time, I did run into some crunch time and got a little help at the end, otherwise I would have never got the car done in the three month time span that I had. So far I have enlisted no help whatsoever this go around. I never want to try to do another car in such a short time again...that one about killed me. :whew:

Those are original Maverick hold-down brackets. I am guessing the one in my Grabber is out of the 75 Comet parts car I had years ago since it is identical to my 74 hold-down bracket. If you look at the B/W pics of original cars the hold-down bracket is different on the 70/71 cars but it is plastic as far as I can tell. Guess now I am on the hunt for the proper 71 hold-down Bracket! :slap: Anyone got one? I'll trade my 75 bracket for it ... :) I'll check my pictures when I get home becuase I don't recall if the 71 had a battery in it when I got it or perhaps the bracket was missing. There must be some reason I used the later model bracket.

Dan....you're missing the metal bracket that goes from the battery hold down bolt to the inner fender. Going to have to dock concourse points!!

    Oh yeah...

I remember that now. Mine fell off after the rod rusted out, and I remember taking the L shaped tab off. I don't know where it is now. Mine was plastic. Seems like we rigged up a flat piece of metal and some new rods somehow.

My '74 Grabber had a plastic one. It also still had the plastic air intake doohickey. Was kind of like a factory cold air intake. I threw them both away when I was cleaning the car out the day after I bought it. Wish I would have kept them now.
