I have a Masters in Clinical Psycholgy and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, and I can safely say..."SICK!" I can ALSO say "SAWEEET!" Good job...I am jealous
I still think a nice set of finned aluminum rocker covers and cheome-plated air cleaner lid would look awesome in there....
I'll be leaving it blue ... ... I've been to cruise-in's with it the last two weekends and it's been a pretty big hit with the crowd ... nothing like walking around a car show or cruise-in and hearing folks say "Did you see that Maverick Grabber over there?" ... or folks pulling out cameras to take pictures ... pretty nice feeling. Several comments already about how it looks like it just came from the showroom ... one guy in a 427 Cobra replica wanted to know if I had the car packed in silica for the last 35 years and just brought it out. I was also talking to a guy with a 70 Boss 302 at the show ... totally restored. I told him the story about how supposedly only 72 and up cars came with Caution Fan stickers. Of course his car had one that is why I brough it up. He said he hadn't heard that. Another guy standing there said he has a 70 Boss unrestored and it has the Caution sticker ... although he bought the car used. There was also a properly restored 66 Shelby GT-350 there. He did not put a Caution Fan sticker on his car ... had every other decal though.
The Engine ID decal arrived today from Osborne Reproductions ... Autolite Radiator hose still on backorder ...
one guy in a 427 Cobra replica wanted to know if I had the car packed in silica for the last 35 years and just brought it out. these guys don't impress me...there car isn't even a production car...just boxes of parts...a model car . to get a 30+ y.o. car and make it look like yours...that impresses me ...tell him yours is a "kit car" and see how impressed he is...frank...
Dan.....if you have a build sheet for your car....the letters/numbers on the engine tag would/should match the build sheet.
I know ... but unfortunately all I had left of the build sheet was 1 corner of it up under the front seat. Besides ... my Grabber was originally a 6-banger ... I'm cloning a V8 car .... Anybody have a build sheet for a 71 302 car --- preferably with a 3-speed tranny that could post the ENGINE number for me? Thanks .... I did find in the Ford Parts Manual that the K297A that is on the decal was definitely for a 302 2V engine ...
I just heard from Marti Auto Works. $40 for a repop ... but they are built using the VIN for the info. I told him I am converting a 6 to a V8 and want to make it as accurate as possible. I asked if he will punch out a V8 302 version of the tag using the build date from my original engine ... we'll see what he says ....
Here's another caution fan sticker in the same location as my 74. Check out the pics. This car is back on eBay right now, this time with no reserve. Somebody might get a nice deal...will be interesting to watch. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-1975-FORD-MAVERICK-GRABBER-LOW-MILES-19K-SURVIVOR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6057QQihZ014QQitemZ330001408142QQrdZ1
What year did they start using the plastic air intake from the rad support to the air cleaner duct? Did they use them on V8s too, or was it a 6 only part? If they used them on V8s, were they the same as the 6?
Not sure but I don't think there is a slot in the radiator support for the intake until 73 or 74 .... My 74 250 had one ... it's in the dump somewhere now ...
