Im having a hell of a time with my motor mounts... Same ones that were on it when I took the motor out. I cant get them to line up for nothing. Ive swapped sides and tried that but to no avail. They will bolt to the block but won't go down far enough for the holes to line up to put the long bolt thru onto the frame mount. Theres a little lip on the frame rails that keeps this from going down far enough. Any help?
Do this, bolt the motor mounts to the frame mount first. Than lower the engine down on the mounts than bolt them in. This is a lot easier.
Tried that... they dont align that way either... seems the bolt holes in the mounts and the block are off
Ive given up... atleast for now. I have no idea why i cant get it to work. Ive bolted it to the frame stands and cant get the holes to line up... also tried it by bolting to motor but cant get mount to go down far enough to align to bolt to frame stand... Ive also tried having the tranny bolted to the crossmember and with it hanging freely... Im about to just blow the dang car up
You may have already tried this, but have swap the frame mounts? I think they differant. I know this maybe pointless, but when I drop and engine in with trans I let the whole thing hang and move the engine to get one bolt started than go on the other side the move the engine to get the bolt started. Sometimes I would use a screwdriver and place it in mount hole up thru the engine and move it that way. You may have done all this just by 2 bits worth.
Leave the mounts loose to the block and the frame mounts loose. Mount one side then go to next side. Then Drink a "Rocky Mountain Cold Coors" light after success.
i'll try to get a picture Its kinda like a "lip" at the bottom of the frame stands to keep it from sitting to far towards the ground. As far as frame mounts go... they havent been removed at all.
