I would not do the upgraded 6 cyl unless it was a 250. for all the money you will spend upgrading a 200 you would be miles ahead with a 302.

thanks for all the input, but I feel like I was misunderstood. my mpg is perfectly fine right now, but I meant on a different motor I wanted good mpg with good amount of horses. but from a little more research I've found it would be best, and unique, to have a bad-a** inline 6. I'm thinking a new intake, 2 barrel carburetor, and headers. sound good?

You can't replace the intake on a "small block" straight 6, it's cast in as part of the head. The header and carb are good starting points, but will cost several hundred bucks unless you can score a good deal on used parts.

upgrading for more power means upgrading the drive train.
power ain't free...you have to feed them ponies after you buy the parts to make them...:yup:
after you build that 200 you might have the same power as a...stock 2V 302 for less money...:tiphat:
as Ward said..."I would not do the upgraded 6 cyl unless it was a 250. for all the money you will spend upgrading a 200 you would be miles ahead with a 302."

    ...JMO...:bouncy:
