I'm upgrading my column to aftermarket with no key. Has anyone moved their old ignition switch (or put a new switch) to the dash in the spot where the 69.5's are? If so, was it a fab part or is there a generic bracket that would mount it?

Wonder if you could use a set up from a Mustang that had a dash key? Those are probably available after market.

Wiring harness for column & dash switches are different. Factory dash switch in Maverick looks like a afterthought.

In my opinion the easiest and best solution would be cut off shift lever flange, fill it in & paint. No riggin' up another column, or rewiring.

I'm replacing the whole column since there's not a great way to convert the entire column to a floor shift with the rack & pinion steering, etc. It's just much cleaner to go with a proper column than trying to graft a bearing on the end, remove the shift linkage, prevent it from locking the wheel, etc.

If you can find the 69.5 housing it is pretty easy to do. My buddy and I have converted two cars to the in dash keys.

Will the ignition cylinder from my steering column fit in the 69.5 housing?

No, but the ignition cylinder for the 69.5 is reproduced and it is easy to swap the pins. The hard part is finding the 69.5 housing.

to me the column in the car is the proper one.
my rack & pinion steering kit from rod and custom came with the bearing and steering shaft.
