I have been working with Mike Bowen for several months on his coyote stock/factory stock rear suspension setup. He has incorporated all the ideas and changes he learned along the way and had all the parts water jetted for me. I have the parts in hand and will detail the install, which should allow use of all the stock wheel well available by moving my Calvert springs inbd maybe 2”? Stay tuned...
I am currently running a 275/60-15 drag radial, and it’s very tight. Will take measurements after the modifications and see what the options are.
Here are a few photos of how it will be setup. Magnets holding everything together to illustrate. The horizontal piece opposite the spring slider mounts to the frame via T-bolts. The holes on the vertical piece picks up the supported factory holes in the frame rails and are bolted with thru bolts. Mike put witness marks on the bracket and has not seen any movement. You could easily add some stitch welds for added security. Mike was just utilizing the aft gusset, but I am going to add one in the front as shown for additional support. I am using the Calvert sliders, which I think might be better for a car that sees some street time. They have delron bushings between the slider and spring. I would think these might be a little less noisy. When Mike designed these the Calvert sliders weren’t available, so his hole pattern is setup for the Afco sliders. I will provide the hole pattern layout for the Calvert sliders so he can incorporate whichever pattern the buyer wants. You will also notice a relief cut on the horizontal plate, this is so the plate be contoured to the factory frame rail. The front spring pocket picks up the inbd factory spring eye hole in the frame. The bottom and otbd portion of the factory frame rail is cut away, and the new pocket welded inline with the factory frame rail. Mike also suggested several plug welds to the factory rail for strength. The forward spring attach point has three different settings (the center hole matches the factory location). This allows more or less bite by changing the instant center. Hope my description is clear enough, let me know if I need to clarify. Will add additional photos upon installation.
So changing the front bolt hole heights location on the front of leaf springs it will help the car hook up better ??
I have the kit in hand from Mike Bowen. But, no install instructions. Does anyone have any pics for the kit installed?
