no pictures for obvious reasons lol but i got the rear main seal replaced. now i dont have to give it a quart every couple days!!!
i finally got around to putting on my msd spark plug wires with the help of my dad...that was a job i dont want to do for a long while! making those cuts is scary! and i ran it through my smoothie wire setup so it doesn't go accross the valve covers but rather around them. i've only driven it once in the past like two weeks. the car runs terrible. we fixed the first problem with the carberator but now something else is wrong. probably the float adjustments are messed up. when i did drive it a couple days ago i was going like 30mph and my drivers side hood scoop flew up and landed on my hood. i was lucky enough that it didn't fall off while i limped the car over to the shoulder lol! BTW if anybody's curious, if your hood scoops aren't bolted down they fly out at approximatly 55mph.
i sure wish it was... i've tried the cheap wax, the expensive ect... somebody put on a cheapo paint job when the car got in a wreck or whatever
yup! yup! I took em off to paint them and then when they were dry i put them back on to see how they looked. left them on there and forgot to bolt them back down. At first i didn't know what had happened i just saw chunks of metal go flying off my windshield. when i pulled over i immediatly realized what had just happened. that was a while back though
heres the stats on the new tranny i'm getting from paul_s on saturday i can't wait to get this in! 1 C4 - 450. The internals will be modified and clutches added to handle up to 500 FT. Lbs of torque (naturally aspirated). 5 clutches in the direct clutch pack (instead of the stock 4) 6 clutches in the forward clutch pack (instead of the stock 5) Lube and cooling enhanced for greater volume (your 5/16" cooler lines are still optimal) Valve body modified to level III - street and strip (hard, late shifts under moderate acceleration and up with more comfortable shifts with light throttle) In order to actually take the 500 ft. lbs. of torque the only mods that will be required are a welded direct clutch (not needed to 400). All new wear parts will be used in the build. (bushings and thrust washers, clutches and bands, rear servo piston and seal, front servo seals, gaskets and seals. I always modify the pump, stator support, and case to make sure that your C4 will get the best in lubrication and the volume of coolant flow is at least 50% higher than stock. Your shift pattern is: Drive - all three gears with automatic shifts Low - start and stay in low gear - will downshift to low at any speed - can cause the engine to over-rev if you shift to low above 40-50 mph Second - start and remain in second - will downshift to second at any speed - can cause the engine to over-rev if you shift to second above 70-75 mph. You can manually shift low and second but when you put the transmission into drive it will only shift to third gear if the governor says it is time - at full throttle this will be at a high enough speed that you will have to let up to let it shift before you break speed laws. manual lever will be set up for column shift. 6 clutches in the forward drum and 5 clutches in the direct drum, a new welded intermediate band, all new bushings and thrust washers with positive pressure lube to the #9 thrust. The parts that are left are your valve body - that will be phase 3 with manual control of 1st and 2nd and shifts that are barely perceptible with light throttle and neck snapping and wheel spinning hard when you stick your foot in the throttle and hold it there. - and the governor which will shift around 5400 rpm when you hold your foot to the floor. The shift will be harsher as you apply more throttle and less noticeable when you use less throttle. The speed of the shift doesn't change - just the amount of inertia behind it.
i ran back and forth accross the highway for like an hour before i found one of them. the other was sitting on the white line and everytime a car went by it would rock back and forth. i watched that helplessly before there was a big enough gap to run accross the road and get it! it was scary!!!

I use the same number of clutches in all my C4s. Most will never need it but they last a long time and under most circumstances are bullet proof. As long as the maintenance is performed... Hey Coop, have you changed the "break-in" oil yet and adjusted the bands? You have to have 500 or more miles on it by now.......
