My 71 Maverick Grabber Build.....

    Today I got the merge, v-band connection for the crossover pipe and the turbo flange on the pass side header..... Also ground/ported the excess welds out of the header flange openings and where I welded the turbo flange on the inside.....

    Here's the initial cut for the merge area under the turbo flange and one with the second side of the merge tacked on.....

    A couple before and after porting of the port opening where I cleaned up the BBK welds, and one of the t4 flange after welding and porting.....

    I removed the BBK tag off the header.....

    That's cool!

    Does it matter that the exhaust from the driver's side has to travel farther than the passenger side? I'm a turbo newb. :yup:

    No it doesn't hurt anything for them to be different distances, it is not necessary to have equal length headers either..... It is exhaust pressure that turns the wheel in the turbine housing, it's not too critical how it gets there just that it does.....

    Looks good! What are your plans for exhaust from the turbo back, single 3" or so? Maybe split at the rear for duals out the back?

    Very nice.

    Educate me a little on the turbo. Which one are you using and why that one. Is there a general formula to follow in selecting one that will work for each specific application?

    How much horsepower do you plan to add with the turbo setup?

    Thanks, single 3" out the back.....




    I am using T76 P-trim with an .81 ar exhaust..... There are formula's for it but I am not great at reading the maps for the turbo's..... I base my selection on engine size and power goals, alot of my selection is based on info I have gotten from others on www.theturboforums.com..... It is a very informative site if you would like to learn more about turbo's.....

    It would not be hard to make alot more then I can use with this set up, I am limited because I only have a roll bar(I can only run 10 flat in the 1/4, or 135 mph whichever comes first)..... I am thinking 550ish rwhp will get me where I need to be on a fairly conservative tune.....

    Today I ported the openings of the driver side header flange..... Then I finished the rest of the driver side header..... After that I built the crossover pipe(although I may have to redo the end colse to the driver side header, I had bit of a gap on the bottom side of one of the weld that I had some trouble with..... I am afraid it might give me some trouble later).....

    frank i think the pipe go under the car :rofl2:not wrapped around the motor into a turbine jk good work it looks nice man keep it up

    Why is this not finished yet!!?? :) I just read the entire thread hoping to see the finished project and youtube video of the road flying out from under the car and come to find there's still more to be finished :cry: How much longer until its done :D I need my fix im addicted!:rofl2:

    I was going to run it over the, ahh nevermind..... Glad you like it.....




    It all takes time, and I only have so much time to work on it..... It will be done when it's done.....:huh:
