Please tell me you're not putting a Chevy motor in that thing!

The thought has crossed my mind. I have enough parts to put a big HP N/A 540 BBC together but also have some mild SBC and SBF parts I could do something with. I want the car to run brackets in the mid 9's and a 400HP 302 would maybe get me high 10's if the car weighs out like I think it will. I have a buddy that has a 2500# big tire tube chassis maverick and a stock 351W with a cam, intake and factory heads gets him down the track in the upper 10's. Havent decided yet what I will use.

A little here and there. Just got the #1 bar and main hoop in today. I have the new chassis planned where I can lift the body off and do all the welding on the jig. Im dreading some of the next bars that I need to make...the halo with a few compound bends.

I guess the mechanical engineer part of me is coming out right now, and this is not meant to criticize the floor design in any way.............maybe take a look at the design again............................if you look at the intersection of 7A, 8A, and #1 where they come together............this is spreading the load bearing forces very nicely(from the side and top).....................if you move to the intersection of 6A and 7A there is no member to distribute the force inward toward 8A like you have in the rear. That point would be prone to failure if the top halo took a hard corner hit if the car flipped and could possibly transfer the energy to that intersection which could fail......................Just my 2 cents worth.

Take a look at this one. This is the "B" version of the 25.4 chassis when the drivers helmet is center or forward of the main hoop. The picture I showed earlier was version A that was for helmet completely in front of main hoop.

I see what your saying and I think the B version adds strength to that weak spot by moving the 8A bar to a different intersect point.
