Since it was on the cold side for finishing up the paint stuff today, I decided to start working on putting the trunk area together and making the rear wiring harness..... First thing I did was install the battery cut off switch..... Then I had to decide how I wanted the battery cables to come out of the battery box, also had to put a hole in the trunk floor for the battery box vent hose and grommet..... Next was the unfortunate task of cutting up a perfect factory rear harness, had to be done because I needed some sockets out of it..... I layed out the wires for the rear harness and put Painless Powerbraid, then routed it from the left front door post to the left rear fenderwell area..... I could not finish the battery box mounting due to need a battery for size purposes, I got one this afternoon for tomorrow..... Here's a pic of the old rear harness, you rarely see the factory cloth covering in this condition(then one showing what was leaft of it)..... Here's what the rear harness is looking like so far.....
Today I got the battery box mounted, the new battery in it with the hold down bar I made for it(I hate the little wire hold down the give with the kit)..... Then I made the rear speaker harness and routed it then everything..... I got connectors on both harnesses at the dash end, and the harnesses tied up through the middle of the car..... Here is the box and battery bolted in place, then with the cover sitting on it..... Here is the harness connectors and the harness routing.....
Monday afternoon I went to the shop and painted the driver side quarter end cap while the weather was decent.....
This morning I took a ride to Kissimmee to check out the Mecum auction..... It was pretty cool, there were some really nice looking cars..... After I got back late this afternoon I decide to go to the shop and get something done..... I sanded, masked and put the satin black on the inside edge of the driver side quarter end cap so I can get it on the car tomorrow..... I also sanded, masked and painted the a and b pillars, also did the panel under the rear window along with the rear deck filler panels(yes I finally found a color I can live with and it also has the right sheen to it when dry)..... Here is the drive side quarter end cap ready to have the trim put on and installed on the car..... Here is the interior areas I painted(you can see in the ones with the a pillars the color is just a little darker then the factory paint on the doors, but then again the doors have been painted for over 40 years).....
Today I got the driver side quarter end cap trim on, and then the cap on the car..... Next I got the rear bumper out and put it on the car..... I also made the ground battery cable and the positive from the battery to the cutoff switch..... Here is what the back of the car is looking like now..... and here is what the battery cables are looking like.....
Nice work, Frank! I absolutely love the Comet chrome trim around the Grabber spoiler. A nice touch, and it suits the car. A subtle mod that has a huge impact!!
