I got it up on jack stands this morning, and I put the crossmember in backwards..... After looking it over I liked the way the 6 cyl crossmember works with the glide..... I notched the center out of it and added a piece of 3/16" plate for the mount pad, then made angled fillers with some 1/8" plate..... I welded it all up on both sides, then ground the top side smooth so it wont hold any dirt or oil on it down the road..... The trans mount was properly centered now, with that corrected I was able to center the motor and everything looked good now..... It looks like I will be making a set of motor mounts since the driver side on is all but hitting the steering shaft..... No biggie or surprise really.....

Before I went home I wiped the engine compartment down with OSPHO, with all the rain and humidity we have been having it was starting to surface rust..... That stuff is amazing, by the time I wiped it all down the almost all the rust disappeared.....

Here is the trans crossmember progress and what it looks like in the car.....

I got some material this week to make the motor mounts, and I got them made today..... I also got a the 2 outboard tubes to the k-member tacked in place..... I hope to get everything with the motor mounts finished up tomorrow.....

Here are the pieces for the new mounts all made and drilled and then one of them welded together.....

Looks awesome! Is that all that is needed for the motor mounts? Any additional tubing?

Thanks..... There will be another tube going down towards the center of the k-member on each side, I will get them in there tomorrow and remove the k-member to weld it all up.....

First thing this morning I removed the rack&pinion and oil pan to make room to work..... Then I made the inner mount tubes and got them tacked in good..... Next I picked up the motor and removed the k-member, got it on the bench then drilled a piece of angle and a piece of strap for a make shift jig..... After that I welded everything up and got any weld spatter cleaned off the tubes, then reinstalled the k-member in the car.....

Here the new inner tubes are made and tacked in place.....

Here the k-member is on the bench through the process.....

A member over on LS1 Tech that has a 67 Cougar pulled a mold off his badass Mercury Man windshield washer bottle cap..... He was kind enough to send me a couple of parts out of that mold which I used to make a really cool steering wheel horn button center piece.....

This is one of the molded parts he sent me, I will find a use for this one too.....

After some sanding and whittling I got it to fit the center for my steering wheel, here's what it looks like.....

Something tells me there's an LS powered Comet that will run circles around it in the very near future.

After a nice little clean up session this morning and parts reorganization, I put the rest of the front suspension together..... I got out a radiator I have from my last build(not the one I am going to use but the same size(I think)) for some mock up..... I trimmed the core support for the radiator and got it set in place..... The big problem I am having is figuring out where I want to position the turbo and how exactly I want to mount it.....

Here is a small collection of parts for the turbo part of the build(also one of the sheet metal balancer position mock up piece I made).....

This is what I trimmed from the core support for radiator clearance.....

Here the radiator and turbo mocked up in approximate position(maybe).....

I must of tried putting the turbo everywhere possible and wasting the better part of the morning..... I finally said F it, picked a spot and cut clearance for it..... I ended up trimming a little more and finally got it mocked up where it's going to be..... That was about it for today, hopefully next weekend I will actually make noticeable progress(we shall see).....

Here is the initial hole I made and then some of the turbo in position.....
