I battled that problem for about a month, No one could find me the right m/c rod... I finally bought an adjustable one from NPD, pricey but I was able to fine tune the peddle height...

I have some various master cylinder rods. Measure yours and maybe I can sell you one of mine if they are shorter. Email me directly (see below) if I can help.

    Craig,
I'm pretty sure I compared the new one to the old one before I installed the new rod into the new m/c and they were the same. That being said mine is 6-7/16" in length overall.

Keep up the good work, John. The extra things you are doing, will pay off.

Oh crap, Craig doesn't have a shorter brake rod. Thanks for looking Craig.

Does anybody have one laying around that they could sell me?

What do you all think about modifying mine? I was thinking of cutting it and taking the proper amount out of the middle and welding it back together and then sleeving it with some small steel tubing.

And lastly I'm having a helluva time getting the rod out of my m/c while it's in the car! I've even tried a big slide hammer on the brake pedal to try and pop it out but no luck so far.

What if you cut and shortened the pushrod, threaded both ends, and used one of those turnbuckle like things, with a nut on either end to lock it in place? Then you could fine tune the length....

Good idea DDB but I would need a die with backwards thread which I do not have and don't really want to buy. I could thread one end and weld the other. Still adjustable but I would have to disconnect the brake pedal end to do it. No big deal really. I'm just wondering about the strength of the whole thing with that in the middle.

Plus you guys just gave me a good idea. I have a friend that works at a mustang and ford restoration place, Perogie Enterprises and I'll have to go over there and see if they have any shorter rods laying around.

I've got 2 in the box, one is 6 5/8, and the other is 6 3/8. I can't be sure that the tag is suppose to be on that rod, but it's still in the box they came in.

Hmmm, mine is about the same length as the short one. I wonder why my pedal is so high?

That is the two lengths I have as well.

I think a very small change in rod length would make your pedal height change quite a bit. All having to do with pivot points, pivot angles, and lots of math. :D
