Nice work. I like the boxes... taller and safer to use with jack stands than car dollies. Nothing to say about the shop that hasn't been said already. Now I'll crawl back to my narrow garage with the 7ft ceiling and sulk.

Sorry for the delay, havent been over at the shop in a few weeks. Anyway, I looked into the bell/flywheel/trans setup I used. These are the numbers I pulled off:

    Flywheel: 164 tooth, D7TE GA

    Bell: D1TA 8394AA

    Trans: C5AR 7006-D tag: RUG J1 014666 According to David Kee's website, thats for a 1967 Fairlane, 390, wide and 28-spline.

So I guess to answer your question, yes a big bell housing will work with the z-bar setup. It worked great for me while it was in there.

Unfortunately, no. Fall semester is in full swing, so my time has been shifted towards classwork. Im hoping to spend some time on it towards the middle of the semester. My plans are to pull the interior next, including the dash, steering column and A/C box. Then its on to removing the front and rear glass. Then its cowl time.

I did get our '74 Mustang running again. I had an MSD module go bad. :hmmm: Replaced it and its running like a top again.

Thanks for the update. The Fairlane ID explains the shifter location. I did some more research on the Bellhousing number. I have the same P/N you do on mine. Most of what I found ID'd it as '71 Mustang but from what I read elsewhere the "T" in the P/N usually denotes Truck applications so I can only guess it was used in mulitple platforms. I thought the truck bells were deeper though so I have to admit I'm confused on that count. At least I know that Bell will work with the T-L and the Comet Z-Bar linkage.
    Thanks

Well, I just ordered my new gauges. Cause you just gotta have the gauges hanging under the dash. I originally had a set of 3 cheap gauges. I really liked them, but you could tell they were junk. They would bounce around and sometimes not light up, or work at all. This time I went with Stewart Warner's Competition series. I found a company on eBay letting them go for half off and free shipping. Check out D&D Instruments for some good deals, I dealt with Steve.

Anyway, they should be here in a week. Im getting 5 gauges in total. The usual oil pres, water temp and volts. But I also ordered 100psi Fuel pres and a vac/boost gauge. ;) Here's the line I went with, 2 5/8 black:

So I have received my new 2 5/8" gauges, they are awesome. I am now messing with some ideas for gauge panels. Here is my first idea. Its kinda basic, but it would hang under the dashboard, just like a 3 gauge panel would. I still need to CAD an upper lip for attaching to the lower dash. All dimensions are in inches. The panel will be blue and made out of aluminum. My second idea is a staggered setup, with 3 gauges along the top and 2 on the bottom.
