Its not going to be his car, I told him if he helped me with it he could take it to Prom, but to be honest him and I dont think the car will be ready in time. Im looking at Vintage Air for early stangs, I wouldnt want his date to look like one of the lasts scenes from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark"

Can you post a picture of what the whole side of the car looks like, from a couple of feet away? I've been thinking of doing the same thing..

Yeah Bro Ill do it tommorro. But remember its not welded and leaded yet. One of the things I kept in mind when I wanted to do this is wind. By that I mean, the front of the rain gutter creates a boundry layer of air, that moves air away from the door and window seal. So that the force of the air (Going at full speed) doesnt penatrate the seals and get inside the passenger compartment making noise, and compromise the enviroment(Heating ,cooling, rain). When I do the leading Im gonna do a subtle flair to recreate that boundry layer effect.:)

Also when I cut the rain gutter I compromised the spot welds that secure the roof skin to the rest of the car via the inner door and window area, hence the weld bead. Back in the day very few design engineers used wind tunnels to design body shapes on anything but Aircraft. Its gonna be alot of work.:coco::banghead::shocked::stirthepot::mischeif:

Today I tacked a 3/16" rod where the rain gutter was, instead of running a bead. dscf0025_original.jpg This is the passenger side without the 3/16" rod dscf0026_original.jpg Looks nasty HuHHH

I drilled all the spot welds on the cowl and this is what I found. dscf0035_original.jpg dscf0039_original.jpg

the cowl vent doesnt look bad. either i cant see it or its good. does look like a good opportunity to properly seal the metal and never have to worry about it.

Looked too good to go through all the work of taking off the cowl. But no point in cutting corners now, you got the rest of it all torn apart.

Is that a new vent tube or it was just blasted? If it was just blasted - blasting does wonders for restoration. It looks like a replacement tube.

After seeing some of the other damaged cowls on here, not knowing what was under there bugged me. So Im gonna seal it up.

Got this on CL in PHX for 300 it was a complete motor, but all I want is the Block. Picked it up from NAPA after Hot tanking and Magnafluxing. No cracks, Bore is standard. dscf0173_889670_original.jpg

Stopped by Gordies Speed Shop to talk about a build, 393 possible 408.
