    I agree with Frank.

My car was an original 302 car. I swapped to a 351w and ran it that way for many years. I then switched to a 5.0L roller engine. Unless you are planning on running a big 351w stoker, the swap is not worth the effort. A stock bore 5.0L can be made to run away and hide from a mildly modified 351w.

Headers are always the biggest issue with our cars! My shock towers are unmodified to make the 351w swap even more complicated.

Best of luck with your build regardless of which engine you choose.

Agree with the above. If you really want the cubes do it with a 347 stroker. Lighter and easier to fit.

I'd say do it if you are going to shave the spring towers. A 351w is a better engine than a 289/302, and weighs only 60 pounds more. If you put aluminum heads with 1.90"/1.60" valves on it, if will be a monster. You don't need headers unless you're going racing.

That car needs a small bumper conversion too...

Little difference of opinion here. 1.90" intake valves are too small for a decent 351. I'm kinda from the school that believes heads with bigger ports and valves (within reason) are better and the cam is used to tailor the valve events to the engine. 1.90" valves are barely adequate for a 302 unless the heads are AFR, Trick Flow, etc. with their better ports.
Saw a Maverick at a car show with a 351 Cleveland, had lots of room for headers 'cause the exhaust ports are angled down some instead of coming straight out horizontally from the head.

Well yeah, 1.94" or 2.02" would probably be even better. There is a limit though, beyond which low-end power suffers. The valve sizes in the 1970 BOSS 302 were slightly reduced from the 1969 sizes for that very reason...

There’s no replacement for displacement that being said I have a 347 stroker 425 crank hp , put in a top loader 4 speed not sure what it will be like at the track but out side the shop I crappie pants a bit first time dropping the clutch . If you have the engine go for it if you have a choice 347 stroker mine is the blue print crate with better valve springs and a Holley sniper
