    Right side done and project finished. Really wasn't too hard. Just got to clean up some welds and its on to the next project.

    I saw measurements on the new tank, but not sure about the width on the 15 gallon tank you removed. Do you still have a good amount of clearance for rear exiting dual exhaust with this tank?

    Glad to see you working on the GT.

    Very nice Dennis!! That is a little different than I expected, I thought you were going to leave the floor stock but that really turned out great. Have you decided what you are going to do with the filler tube? If you don't redo the rear panel to accept the filler tube maybe you could use a Maverick tail panel so you can use your cyclope light. I am sure you have thought about it.

    Bob, I used 18 ga. Probably over kill but I'd rather go with over kill than adequate. Seth, the tank is the same width as the 65 tank. Nick, I'm going to keep my shaved Comet panel and just put a short extension on the tank filler to make it vertical. I will put a vent tube on the extension and run a small hose to the outside of the trunk floor for venting The cyclops tail light is still carless. Everyone else, thanks for the compliments.

    Front Valance Mod. I stole this idea from Mark Gustavson back in 2000 or so. I had a thread on it back in 04 but the pictures are long gone so I figure I'll add them to my project. thread. The lack of under bumper lights on the Comet makes the opening too wide and dont look right in my opinion. Closing the gap is fairly easy as outlined in the following pictures.

    Layout the curved section to cut out so it can be used further in.

    Determine how wide you want the opening to be and move the cut out section to there. I left the opening the same width as the radiator.

    Tack it in place

    Make a filler piece out of scrap metal.

    Weld and grind and weld and grind.

    The difference compared to a stock piece.

    I'm thinking of stealing Glenn's idea with the camaro valance lights. They would make cool fog lights. Sorry Glenn. When you have a great idea, its hard to keep it unique. Just ask me about 67 impala tail lights.
